Park Hae-min’s consolation not enough for Im Chan-kyu, ‘Worst pitching of the season against arch-enemy NC’

LG’s Im Chan-kyu hasn’t been seen in a while.

LG lost a 3-7 home game against NC on March 3 at the Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul.

Starting pitcher Im Chan-kyu had the worst outing. He gave up seven runs on seven hits (two home runs) and three walks in five innings.

The seven runs are the most he’s allowed this season, and it’s the first time he’s given up two home runs in a game.

After the game, he stood in front of the fans with a disappointed face and couldn’t raise his head for a long time. When Park Hae-min saw this, he wrapped his arms around his shoulders and comforted him.

Im Chan-gyu was especially weak when facing NC. He had lost five straight games against NC since September 7, 2018, in Jamsil. His last start against NC was on July 4, 2018, five years ago in Jamsil.

Lim Chan-kyu, who started the season as a long reliever and worked his way up to the third starter’s spot, was 5-0 with a 1.97 ERA in 11 games (45.2 innings) before the NC game.

His May record alone is the best in the league. He won all four of his starts in the month and posted a 1.13 ERA.

The game started off badly. In the first inning, he got leadoff hitter Son Ah-seob to ground out to second base, but gave up a single to left and a walk to Park Gun-woo to put runners on first and second.

He then gave up an RBI double to Martin in the next at-bat to the right side of the infield to cut the deficit to two runs.

After getting Kwon Hee-dong to ground out to shortstop, he gave up a single to Yoon Hyung-joon and a groundout to Do Tae-hoon to end the first inning.

In the second and third innings, he stabilized with a triple play.

In the second, he fouled off Park Se-hyuk, struck out Kim Joo-won, and got Son Ah-seop to ground out to first base. In the third, Seo struck out Seo Ho-cheol and Park Gun-woo before getting Martin to fly out to left field to end the inning.메이저놀이터

The top of the fourth inning was shaky. After giving up a leadoff single to Kwon Hee-dong, Do Tae-hoon singled and Park Se-hyuk walked to put runners on second and third with one out. He then gave up a single to Son Ah-seob to put runners on second and third again. The next batter, Seo Ho-cheol, gave up a three-run shot over the left field fence.

He held on until the fifth inning, but his ERA soared from 1.97 to 3.02, and the team fell into a two-game losing streak.Jamsil=Choi Moon-young reporter /2023.06.03/
