Michael ‘Thunderstar’ Block “If it’s a dream, may you never wake up…”

Club pro Michael Block, 46, is living the dream after becoming a “lightning star” at the 105th PGA Championship last week.

Block has been invited to play in the Charles Schwab Challenge, a PGA Tour event taking place this week at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas. He attended the official press conference on the 24th, two days before the start. Las Vegas oddsmakers gave him higher odds of winning than Kevin Kisner (USA) or Luke Donald (England), but that doesn’t mean he’s a lock to win. If you bet $100 on Block, you’d win $51,100 if he wins.

In his official press conference, Block said, “After the PGA Championship, I received many congratulatory texts from friends, fans, and PGA Tour members. I apologize for not being able to respond to all of them.” Block even received a text from the “King of Basketball,” Michael Jordan. He told him about his slam dunk hole-in-one on the 15th hole during the final round. “I’ve been a huge Michael Jordan fan my whole life,” says Block. I once saved $100 to buy a pair of Air Jordan basketball shoes as a kid,” Block said.메이저놀이터

Block also has an invitation to the RBC Canadian Open, a PGA Tour event in Canada next month from Aug. 8-11. He also received an invitation to major champion Albert Pujols’ wedding. Someone offered $50,000 for the 7-iron he used to make a hole-in-one at the PGA Championship, and he’s even been approached to star in a Netflix documentary. Everywhere he goes now, he’s welcomed. All of this has happened in the span of a week. Block’s current status is reminiscent of the main character in the golf movie Teen Cup.

But there was a lonely time before his stardom. He actually played in the Farmers Insurance Open and the American Express this year, both of which he failed to qualify for. So there’s some anxiety that this success won’t last. “It’s like a dream,” Block said. I’m just enjoying it,” he said. It’s reminiscent of Choi Ho-sung a few years ago, when his “fisherman’s swing” attracted worldwide attention and earned him invitations to play on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour.
