LG Twins backup catcher Heo Do-hwan fired his second shot of the season when it counted.
Heo Do-hwan started the second game of the LG Twins’ doubleheader against the SSG Rangers in the 2023 KBO Baseball League at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul on Sunday, batting ninth and catching.
The move was made to ensure the catcher’s fitness for the doubleheader. In the first game of the doubleheader, which LG won 8-3, starter Park Dong-won played the entire game wearing a catcher’s mask.
Before the first game of the doubleheader, LG manager Yoon Kyung-yeop announced his appearance by saying, “I will only rest the catcher (of the players who played in the first game), and (Heo) Do-hwan will play in the second game.”
After hitting a foul fly to third base in the bottom of the second inning, Heo’s bat came alive in the top of the fourth inning with LG leading 3-2. With the bases loaded, he crushed a three-pitch fastball from left-hander Kirk McCarty for a solo arch over the left field fence.스포츠토토
It was Heo’s second home run of the season. It had a 24.9-degree launch angle, a bat speed of 170.9 mph, and a distance of 114.3 meters.
In addition to Heo’s home run, LG also capitalized on Kim Hyun-soo’s sacrifice fly to center field, Austin’s RBI single to center field, and an error. With the fourth inning still in progress, LG leads 7-2.
