Stymied by the KIA Tigers’ center field.
Hanwha Eagles’ “future” Moon Dong-ju (20) didn’t last six innings in his start against the Gwangju KIA on April 27. He gave up five runs on five hits in five innings. He was removed in the sixth inning after failing to record a single out. He was unable to show his dominance against fellow starter and Rookie of the Year contender Yoon Young-chul (19) and classmate and rival Kim Do-young (20).
The first inning went very well.
In the top of the first inning, he walked three batters on 12 pitches. He got Park Chan-ho to ground out to third base, Kim Do-young to fly out to right field, and Na Sung-beom to ground out to third.
In the bottom of the second inning, they hit a double down the center field line. He retired Choi Hyung-woo, Socrates Brito, and Kim Sun-bin on consecutive infield grounders. It was a 10-pitch shutout.
In the bottom of the third inning, he struck out Byun Woo-hyuk before getting Han Jun-soo to ground out to second base and Choi Won-joon to ground out to first base. He retired three straight batters on 30 pitches.
The no-hitter ended in the bottom of the fourth. Four pitches and a hit loaded the bases with two outs. He gave up an RBI single to Kim Sun-bin to tie the game at 2-2.
He retired the next three batters in the fifth, but fell apart in the sixth. Kim Do-young, the leadoff hitter, singled to right. It was his first hit in six at-bats. He then gave up a single to No. 3 Na Sung-beom to put runners on first and second. Choi Hyung-woo hit a two-run double to left center.
The Hanwha bench was mobilized. The mound was handed over to Kim Bum-soo. Kim threw 76 pitches.
Yoon Young-cheol was removed after 4 innings of 2 runs (1 earned).
Yoon gave up a solo home run to left field to Kim Tae-yeon in the first inning. He has seven home runs this season, four of which came against Hanwha.
In the top of the second, two walks and an infield error loaded the bases with no outs. He induced Lee Do-yoon to ground out to first base for a double play.스포츠토토
Moon gave up two runs (one earned) on three hits in 5 1/3 innings against the Gwangju KIA on Aug. 6. In the first game against Kim Do-young, he went 2-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout. In the second game, Kim went 2-for-3 with a double, a home run, a walk, and two runs scored against Moon Dong-joo.
Moon had pitched a total of 114⅓ innings in the two games. He has one game left in his schedule.
