His shoulder injury has a major impact on his performance decline. As a result, it was predicted that Brantley would choose his retirement. However, Brantley signed a one-year contract with Houston.
He is currently recovering from a shoulder injury and looking to play in the 2023 season opener. This will be decided through spring training and exhibition games that will begin in mid-February.
Brantley, who will be in his 15th year in the major leagues, recorded a batting average of 0.288, five homers, an on-base percentage of 0.370 and an OPS of 0.785 in 64 games last year.
In his prime, he had accurate hitting and a relatively high on-base percentage. His most home runs in a season is 22 in 2019. He was also named an All-Star five times and earned one Silver Slugger.
Houston is a strong candidate for winning the World Series in the 2023 season. Brantley needs a big role for Houston to win two consecutive World Series titles for the first time in the 21st century.
